THE
LOCATION
1. What is Novy Smokovec
like? Is it a part of Stary Smokovec?
Lying in the altitude of exactly
1000 m, Novy Smokovec is a 120 years-old stylish mountain resort,
directly connected with Stary Smokovec as his "younger brother". In
contrast to a livelier and more crowded Stary Smokovec-center, Novy
Smokovec is - as an enjoyable spa center - more peaceful, ideal as a
base for a family holiday. Please see the Map of Stary and Novy

2. What is the surrounding of
Apartman Smokovec like? Is a shop nearby? Is it a quiet
location?
Definitely. It is located in a
very quiet part of Novy Smokovec called Sibir. The house itself is
immediately surrounded by an evergreen spruce forest; in the
neighborhood they are five family pensions, a small supermarket where
you can buy food, as well as one good restaurant and houses for
permanent residence. A stop of the Tatra-railway (električka) is about 3 minutes, the center of Stary Smokovec about 10 minutes
away by foot.
3. What are the hiking
possibilities in Novy and Stary Smokovec?
Located at the base of several
important marked hiking-trails of the High Tatras, Stary Smokovec and
the adjascent Novy Smokovec are figuring among the most popular resorts
for hikers. Hiking-tails starting in Smokovec lead to some of the most visited hiking desinations: Velicka valley,
Slavkovsky peak, and via Hrebienok to Studenovodske waterfalls, Velka
and Mala Studena valley.
4. What are the skiing
possibilities in Novy and Stary Smokovec? Are ski-rental services and
ski-schools nerby?
Directly in Novy Smokovec there
is the ski-center Jakubkova luka with 3 ski lifts and slopes ideal for beginners and less
experienced skiers. It is snow-safe all winter trough technical snow made by a number of snow-machines and there are several ski-rentals and ski-schools operating
here (incl. childrens ski-school with baby-lift). In Stary Smokovec, just a few minutes away, you can enjoy the
famous Hrebienok ski-center with its variety of ski-slopes (easy to difficult) and a natural sladging track
(night sladging organised). If snow conditions permit, skiing up to the front door of the house is possible both from Hrebienok and Jakubkova Luka.

5. Is the Apartman Smokovec a
part of a hotel (or a Bed&Breakfest pension)?
No. Apartman Smokovec is a
separate holiday apartment flat located in an apartment house.
6. What is the house
like?
It is a very clean, safe and
modern apartment house. It was build very recently - just in the year
2000. Each apartment in the house is owned by a different owner, therefore some apartments are used for recreation as holiday flats, while other are used for permanent residence.
7. Can we order breakfast in
Apartman Smokovec? Is the apartment being cleaned during our
stay?
No. While enjoying your holiday
in our apartment your privacy will not be disturbed by anyone. That is
the main difference between staying in a pension or hotel and in a
holiday apartment (Ferienwohnung) like Apartman Smokovec. Here you will
find everything for comfortable cooking (see the kitchen) and you will
be free to manage your time as you desire it. Just like at home.
8. What if we need help? Is
there anyone nearby to help us?
Do not worry. The owner's
family, living just a few minutes away from the apartment, will always
help you kindly in case of any problems. At your arrival, we can as well
provide you with useful advices on local services and actual skiing or hiking
conditions. Since Apartman Smokovec is a family-run facility, we want
our guests to enjoy its friendly atmosphere.
STAYING
HERE
9. We have allergic
children. Is the apartment suited for them?
Yes it is. The floor is covered
with a ceramic paving and the whole apartment is designed as an
anti-allergic environment, with a minimal surface of allergic textiles
and carpets.
10. Can we smoke in the
apartment?
Apartman Smokovec is a
non-smoking facility. However, smoking is possible at the balcony if
there are smokers among you.
11. Can we bring pets with
us?
We are sorry, but we generally
do not allow pets staying in the apartment. Our goal is to keep it
maximally clean and allergen-safe.
12. We are only 2 persons.
Can we rent just one room in the apartment?
No, renting separate rooms is
not possible. The apartment can be rented as a whole only. However, if
there are just 2 or 3 persons renting the apartment, we usually give
them a discount from the price of the apartment.
13. Can we stay more that 6
persons in the apartment?
The maximal capacity of the
apartment is 6 people, since it is equipped just with 6 beds: 2 beds in
each of the two
bedrooms and 2 beds made out of the sofa in the living room. Even
though the ideal size for the maximal comfort is 4 people, for 6 people there is still enough
place and comfort. However, we are not renting the apartment for more
than 6 people.
14. We are 3 couples and
would like to sleep on double beds. Is it possible in the children's
bedroom as well?
Yes it is possible. The
separately standing beds you can see on the picture of the children's bedroom
can be joined together, so there can be a double bed in each room.
RESERVATIONS & PAYMENT
15. How can I make a
reservation?
Just send us an email indicating
your requested time of rental and the number of persons (incl.
children). Emails are checked daily.
16. Do you accept credit
cards? How is the rent paid?
We do not have a credit-card
terminal, so the rent has to be paid t in cash in Euro or SK, upon your
arrival. In some cases we may require an advance deposit to be paid via
bank transfer.
17. What does the price
(rent) include? Do we have to pay some additional charges?
No, all charges (such as
electricity, water etc.) as well as local taxes are included in the
price. You will NOT pay any supplements.
18. What is the legal basis
of the rental of Apartman Smokovec?
The apartment is rented on a
base of a lease contract, with no additional services provided. The
owner is registered at the Municipality of Vysoke Tatry in Stary
Smokovec, paying all local and state taxes relevant to this
rental.
